The apprenticeship training required to enable the power system electrician to safely carry out daily job requirements consists of four years or periods. All four periods consist of on-the-job work experience and technical training.

The first two periods of technical training require 240 hours (eight weeks) of classroom and lab attendance for each year. At NAIT, these two periods of training can be delivered as Self-paced Learning or through Distance Delivery.
