Description: NAIT’s Photographic Technology program prepares students for entry into the professional photographic career field with a comprehensive technical curriculum emphasizing digital photography. The program promotes a practical, hands-on approach to learning supported by appropriate theory.

Students learn to successfully handle a wide range of camera systems, apply optimum lighting in various settings, produce images for specific professional photographic needs, process images through traditional and digital means, develop applied computer skills, and explore the creativity of electronic imaging. Courses in business practices, effective communications, business law, accounting, and related issues prepare students for a variety of workplace situations.

Due to the nature of the work, photographers utilize many dimensions of photography, art, science, communications, and human relations. Students are therefore encouraged to take high school subjects such as Art, Design, Physics, Chemistry, Communications, and Psychology as well as Computer courses in addition to the required English and Mathematics courses.
