| Description: | Ironworkers may be certified in any of the following: Ironworker (erect structural steel components, and install ornamental and other structural metalwork), Ironworker - Metal Building Systems Erector (assemble pre-engineered buildings), Ironworker - Reinforcing (place and tie, reinforcing steel, and post tension tendons), and Ironworker - Structural/Ornamental (create and install ornamental and other structural metalwork). Ironworkers may work in remote locations or urban areas, outdoors in crews. The work is physically strenuous and is often at great heights. The Ironworker Apprenticehsip program has four periods of training, each being six weeks in duration. |
