Description: In the EMP program, you’ll acquire the skills necessary to succeed in the corporate event and media production industry. Your studies will focus on presentation technologies required to operate in the competitive world of electronic communication for business and industry and on live event production.

This includes the defining of client needs, preproduction, production, post-production of audio, video and interactive presentations, as well as the fundamentals of staging, location set-up and breakdown for live event presentations and trade shows.

Admission Requirements

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.

  • Grade 12 English
  • Grade 12 Mathematics

Program Eligibility:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma with a majority of senior credits at the College Preparation (C), University Preparation (U) or University/College Preparation (M) level or Mature Student Status (age 19 or older)
- Grade 12 English: ENG4(C) or ENG4(U)
- Grade 12 Mathematics (C) or (U)

- Basic computer skills, including Windows or Macintosh operating systems, word processing software (preferably Word) and spreadsheet software (preferably Excel).

Test Scores:
  • TOEFL (PBT) [min. 550] or CAEL [min. 50] or TOEFL (iBT) [min. 80]

International students whose first language is not English must fulfill an English Proficiency requirement in order to qualify for application. English Proficiency requirements are as follows for consideration: A minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper based) or 80 (internet based with no test below 20) - TOEFL code 9212, OR Academic IELTS with an overall minimum score of 6.0 (with no single test score below 5.5), OR CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language Assessment) with an overall band score of 50

Additional Admission Requirements:
In the event of oversubscription, applicant selection may be a two–step process. In Step 1, academic achievement (i.e. grades in pre–requisite subjects and/or scores in English and Reading Comprehension Tests) may be used to select applicants who are eligible for Step 2. The second step will require attendance at an orientation session and the completion of program– related assignments. Applicants who are unsuccessful in Step 1 will be notified by mail, and will not be included in Step 2 of the selection process.
