MySchool101.com Poll
A slim chance for trans fats

In 2004, NDP leader Jack Layton introduced a motion in Parliament to be the second country in the world (after Denmark) to ban trans fats, which have been associated with heart disease and diabetes. Health Canada looked into the matter and said last month that the amount of trans fats in Canadian food should be restricted to 2% of total fat content.

In a recent poll, we asked how you felt about the trans fats that might be in the food you eat, and most of you (36%), said you try to limit your intake. Those of you who avoid trans fats altogether (27%), finished in second place, and 24% of you said you didn't pay attention to it. Some of you, (13%) didn't know anything about it.
