Careers for the season
How many people are contributing to making your season bright this month? Christmas cash
According to Statistics Canada, Canadian consumers spent $36.8 billion dollars in December of 2005. The average consumer's holiday spending was $845.
These numbers are said to be more than 6% higher than those of the previous year. This year's spending promises to be even higher than 2005, because by the week of December 4, most of you hadn't started your shopping yet!
In response to a poll in which we asked if you had started your holiday shopping yet, 50% of you answered no, 36% of you answered yes, and the Scrooges made up 14%, responding "what holiday shopping?"

An award for an adventurer
This month's scholarship comes from Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton, Alberta. The Trek Holidays Adventure Travel Award is offered to a second-year tourism and travel services management student with a GPA of at least 2.5. The candidate must either write a travel article about the benefits of adventure travel on the environment, indigenous cultures, or designs a visual advertisement promoting adventure travel. Apply by July 14, 2007 to be eligible to win this $500 scholarship.
