May 8, 2006 - Where do you want to go?
Australia, the UK, Sweden, Mexico, France, India, Guatemala, and Poland – these are just some of the more than 25 countries where you can study on an exchange through the University of Guelph.
Guelph offers over 65 study-abroad programs worldwide. Each year, over 200 Guelph students take advantage of these opportunities and participate in semesters abroad and exchange programs. Others gain world experience through international co-op placements, international research, community service-learning, and courses with international field trips. With the available options, you can study almost anywhere in the world and gain credits toward your University of Guelph degree.
Helping you get there!
The Centre for International Programs (CIP) promotes and supports all international activities at the University of Guelph, including study-abroad options for Guelph students.
If you're interested in finding out about international opportunities, you can start at the CIP's InfoCentre. With information on studying, working, and volunteering abroad, partner universities, and travel and health insurance, the InfoCentre has everything you need to get started. The CIP also organizes a "traveller's connection" night and a work/study abroad fair, and runs pre-departure orientation sessions to make sure you're ready to travel. Check the International Study, Study Abroad Programs section of the undergraduate calendar for a complete listing of what is available.
The benefits…
The benefits of studying abroad are extensive! Studying, working or volunteering internationally is a chance to immerse yourself in a new culture - something it is not always possible to do as a tourist. You can expand your academic horizons by taking courses such as "Coral Reef Ecosystems" or "The United States of Europe" which are not available on the Guelph campus. You may be able to learn or improve another language. It may make you more competitive among your graduating class for jobs. Finally, it offers you the chance to truly become a global citizen, make new friends all around the world, and become an exceptional student, employee, and neighbour.
