So you want to travel the world? You aren’t alone – many university students dream of seeing new places and other parts of the world. But how can you travel while trying to finish assignments and studying for midterms? It sounds impossible, right?

Wrong! Many universities offer international opportunities for all of their students and the University of Waterloo is no different.

At Waterloo, it is possible to do an exchange in any of the 35 countries with 150 different exchanges. Complete your degree requirements while being surrounded by beautiful landscapes!

The Peace and Conflict Studies program at Waterloo even has two courses that require you to travel to another country and conduct field studies and the International Development program includes an 8-month overseas placement. It is definitely possible for you to have an enriching education at Waterloo while travelling the world.

But travelling can be expensive. However, there is a solution for that: co-op! Over 2,000 students work abroad each year, gaining work experience while financing their stay there as well. And if working for 4 months isn’t really how you want to spend your international exchange, there are other options!

Waterloo also offers internships in different countries, service learning volunteer trips and scholarships to help students travel.

There you have it! University doesn’t stop you from travelling – it helps you. So all you need to do is choose where you want to go and get your bags packed!

Bon voyage!
