At the University of Waterloo, we are committed to making sure that lack of money doesn’t get in the way of your success.

If you’re thinking about attending university, chances are you’re also thinking about how you’re going to pay for it, which can be an obstacle. Our solution? Apply for scholarships and bursaries!

Each year, Waterloo offers a number of entrance scholarships to first-year students who excel academically. These entrance scholarships are open to everyone admitted to full-time studies and you’ll be considered for these automatically as soon as you apply.

There are also president’s scholarships and scholarships that are based on more than just grades alone. For example, the Schulich Leader Scholarship recognizes academic work and leadership and is valued up to $60,000 over 4 years!

These scholarships might include an application form to be completed that provides information on who you are and what you’re involved in. Other times, reference letters and nominations are needed. It is important to speak to your high school administration to learn how you can become a Nominee for scholarships when it is required.

Did you know also know we offer bursaries? Bursaries are like scholarships, but are based on financial need, not academic achievement.

In addition, Waterloo has a Student Awards and Financial Aid office that is happy to help and can be contacted online to help you better understand the scholarships we offer.
