University is a big investment. At UBC, we recognize the significant contribution you and your family make toward your education.

UBC is dedicated to helping Canadian students access post-secondary education. We believe that if you’re talented enough to study at UBC, you should not be held back because you lack financial resources. Last year, UBC and its donors awarded $15 million to incoming UBC students for excellent grades, community and school involvement, and demonstrated leadership. We also recognize that even though you have the motivation and potential to be a UBC student, scholarships and family contributions may not be enough to cover the cost of your degree. Our policy on financial support declares that no eligible Canadian student will be prevented from attending UBC for financial reasons alone. There are a number of sources of financial assistance available to Canadian students.

Bursary Programs: Bursaries are non-repayable awards that are given to students on the basis of financial need. At UBC, there are two bursary programs available.

Work Programs: For many students, working part-time while studying is a great way to earn some extra cash, meet new people, and get a break from studying. UBC has programs that create well-paid, on-campus jobs for both Canadian and international students. Our on-campus employers are flexible when it comes to working around exam and study schedules. UBC is committed to creating a welcoming and accessible community where all students can participate fully and are supported in realizing their potential. To that end, we provide over 20 awards to students with disabilities. These awards range in value and eligibility criteria. Learn more about Awards for Students with Disabilities.

UBC also has scholarships, bursaries and awards for Aboriginal students and students in Aboriginal-focused course work. Learn more about Awards for Aboriginal Students.
