MMus in Music Education
Admission Requirements
- A Bachelor of Music with specialization in Music Education or equivalent
- Minimum 70% average in last 2 years of full-time studies
Application Materials
- A recent essay that demonstrates abilities in research and writing (2,500-3,000 words)
- A recent music teaching video (15-20 minutes)
- A statement of interest video (5 minutes)
- A current resume or CV
- Two confidential letters of reference
- Transcripts from all institutions attended, uploaded in PDF
- Proof of English language proficiency (if applicable)
Application Deadline: Extended to January 15
The Master's in Music Education at Western provides opportunities for music education professionals working in classrooms, studios, or community spaces to develop their professional knowledge. The program provides music educators with access to innovative ideas and practices, helping them to become leaders in the profession.
The program is available full-time or part-time with courses offered in Fall, Winter, and Summer terms. Summer courses are offered on campus during the month of July.
The program is oriented by three guiding goals:
- Create a diverse learning experience
- Provide program flexibility and student choice
- Impact music practitioners' thinking and practice
