Nishnaabemowin
Learn one of the oldest and historically significant Native American languages in North America. This intensive specialization teaches students about the language and culture of the Anishinaabe nation, helping you develop your fluency and literacy of Nishnaabemowin through workshops, songs, chants, and dances.
Courses
Students who have fulfilled the requirements for a single- or joint-major degree in Indigenous Studies may graduate with a Specialization in Nishinaabemowin if they have successfully completed the following 4.0 credits:
3.0 INDG credits consisting of:
- INDG 2800Y: Introduction to Nishnaabemowin
- INDG 3800Y: Intermediate Oral Nishnaabemowin
- INDG 4800Y: Advanced Nishnaabemowin
1.0 INDG credit from:
- INDG 3851H: Anishnaabemowin on the Land
- INDG 3852H: Harvesting Anishnaabemowin

Admission Requirements
Ontario Secondary School Requirements:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
- A minimum of six Grade 12 4U or 4M courses, including program specific prerequisites
Program Requirements:
- A minimum 70% overall final average
- ENG 4U with a minimum of 60%
