UMaine, the major research university for the state of Maine, has over 85 undergraduate academic programs from which to choose. Located on the banks of the beautiful Silllwater River in Orono, Maine, just miles from the city of Bangor, the campus offers many recreation opportunities. A new multi-million dollar recreation center supplements the many outdoor facilities located on and near campus. Student involvement and faculty interaction are important aspects of UMaine's educational experience. the student:faculty ration is 16:1.

Areas of Expertise

UMaine's programs are offered by the college of Liberal Arts, the college of Business, Public Policy and Health, the college of Engineering, the college of Education and Human Development, and the college of Natural Sciences, Forestry and Agriculture. In addition the Honors College offers one of the oldest honors programs in the United States. Outstanding facilities offer students a chance to really become involved in their education, many majors offer the opportunity to become involved in research at the undergraduate level.

On Campus Housing

The University of Maine offers an exciting First Year Residential Experience (FYRE) that combines on campus living with academic and social programming. All first year students live in the FYRE or Honors residential complex and are able to benefit from the enhanced community activities offered to help first year students have a successful year at UMaine.
