UNB Saint John is an intimate campus of about 2,000 students in New Brunswick’s largest city.


The Saint John campus is a cozy, tight knit community. Many students say they love the small campus since it allows them the chance to really get to know faculty and other students. It also allows for the opportunity to shine when it comes to extracurriculars, of which the University of New Brunswick Saint John has many. Though small, UNB Saint John attracts a number of international students, enriching the cultural flavour of the campus. The Saint John campus is surrounded by acres of land overlooking the Kennebecasis River, making for beautiful scenery and the chance to enjoy the outdoors. Combined with the university's athletic facilities, creating opportunities for living a healthy, active lifestyle. With degree programs in three faculties, state-of-the-art facilities and an accessible, welcoming atmosphere, UNB Saint John is celebrating its roots and building a future you can be part of.

Areas of Expertise

UNB Saint John's Marine Biology program provides a hands-on experience through an intensive 12-week immersion semester at the Huntsman Marine Science Centre in St. Andrews, New Brunswick. Our Bachelor of Nursing program provides valuable real-world experience during clinical care practicums at both the hospital and through local community, industry and public health programs and agencies. Our Health Sciences program gives students the opportunity to provide highly specialized medical care directly to patients, through all stages of life. Students can study in three streams which include radiography, respiratory therapy and radiation therapy. Our Bachelor of Arts program prepares students for a diverse, changing and engaged world. Our interdisciplinary programs and experiential learning opportunities ensure our graduates are ready to face the challenges of today. Some unique options within our Arts program are Comparative Literature, International and Communication Studies, and Criminal Justice. Our Faculty of Business empowers students to identify their professional goals and reach their potential by exploring diverse areas of today's business. Our undergraduate Co-Op program is the only CAFCE accredited program in the region and offers students paid work terms. Our Applied Management program offers college graduates the opportunity to continue their education at the university level and earn an undergraduate degree with only two more years of study.

You can choose from 2 different co-ed residences on the Saint John campus: the Dr. Colin B MacKay Residence and Sir James Dunn Residence. The Dr. Colin B MacKay Residence offers 85 two-bedroom suites that include a three piece washroom, as well as a small kitchenette furnished with a refrigerator and microwave. The Sir James Dunn Residence is a traditional residence, which houses 68 students in single and double rooms. Both residences are connected to the rest of the campus through a network of tunnels & pedways, so you don't have to worry about getting wet and cold on a stormy day.

Off Campus Housing

UNB Saint John's Off-Campus Housing office maintains a Web site and staff to assist you in learning about the City of Saint John's neighbourhoods, transit system, and rental system. Housing listings are maintained according to boarding, roommates desired, room numbers, pets, neighbourhoods, etc.

Incoming Students

Orientation week eases the transition to University and promotes relationship building amongst peers and the campus community. All new UNB Saint John students (first year, international, transfer and mature) are invited to participate in what is guaranteed to be an exciting, informational and fun introductory week! Our goal is to make students feel welcome, as well as prepared for the upcoming year. Over the course of the week students will have the option to participate in academic, social and recreational activities that will help you feel comfortable in your new environment.

Career Planning

Student Services offers individual guidance to assist you in career planning. Career counselling includes career exploration, career planning, assessment of interests, and online resources.

Sports

The Saint John Seawolves compete in men's basketball, women's basketball, men's soccer, women's soccer, men's volleyball and women's volleyball. The Seawolves compete in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).

Activities

Sports, fitness and wellness can be a big part of your experience at UNB Saint John. Besides the varsity Seawolves teams there's also Club sports (rugby, football, hockey and badminton) along with intramural activities including aerobics and fitness classes, martial arts programs and other special offerings.

Clubs

If you're looking for your university experience to be more than just textbooks and classes, join a club on campus. The University of New Brunswick Saint John hosts over 50 clubs and societies- there’s something for everyone.

Information Technology

The Commons is UNB Saint John's premiere destination for students. The university’s library system is located in the Commons, along with the Student Technology Centre, the Writing Centre, the Math and Science Help Centre, and the Commons Café. Low voltage Apple computers are available for students to use. The Hans W. Klohn Commons is the essential gathering place for students, offering them the latest in technology, writing and library services, as well as high-quality learning and research facilities. Computer labs are also found in all of the academic buildings on campus.

Cultural

The Lorenzo Reading Series brings well known and up and coming authors to UNB Saint John through the academic year for free readings. The Saint John String Quartet are our Musicians in Residence and play free lunchtime concerts. Vox is the journal of critical and creative work published by undergraduate students through the Falstaff Society. The Ward Chipman gallery presents showings of local visual artists.

Special Services

UNB strives to assist students with special needs while pursuing their studies. Services are designed to meet individual needs and ongoing improvements to facilities. Key services include campus health services, academic and personal counselling, services for students with disabilities, and international student advisors.

Affiliated Institutions

UNB Saint John is affiliated with the following institutions: Centre for Aquaculture and Coastal Studies, Centre for Criminal Justice Studies, Electronic Commerce Centre, and Modern Languages Centre.

International Involvement

Studying abroad allows you to earn credits while discovering new cultures and experiences. Internationally mobile students are in a better position to find their first job and to enhance their career development. International opportunities are open to almost all UNB Students through our co-op, internship and student exchange programs. UNB has more than 89 international programs in 36 countries.
