Phase one of the new Lakehead University permanent campus facility at Orillia is now complete with the main academic building and learning commons as well as the first residence facility, food service building and bookstore. The Orillia Campus has been built to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standards. With a three-phase construction plan, the Orillia Campus is designed to foster interaction and collegiality among students, faculty, staff and visitors, all while immersing them in a campus environment that demonstrates and promotes awareness of the principles of resource conservation, sustainable growth and the protection of the natural environment and biosphere.
To enable students to leverage their many interests, Lakehead University's program offerings at the Orillia Campus are multidisciplinary. Ideal for students who have broader career interests and aptitudes, a multidisciplinary degree program provides a flexible structure that allows for easy selection of pre-professional program requirements, along with subjects that are of greatest personal interest.

High school students who receive an offer of admission and complete their residence contract and return the residence deposit by the deadline date (June 2, 2014 for 2015 entry) are guaranteed a space in residence. The new Orillia residence is a smoke free, dormitory-style residence hall that features a unique, modern design where you have your own single room and share a bathroom with only one other person. Each floor houses 40 single rooms, a laundry facility, kitchenette and quiet room. With a full meal plan included in the accommodation package, you can enjoy extra study and activity time while not worrying about meal preparation and cleanup. As a newer campus, Lakehead’s Orillia Campus will see its athletics facilities develop in years to come. In the interim, full-time Lakehead University – Orillia Campus students are eligible for membership at the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka during the fall and winter semesters. There is no additional cost for the membership as it is covered by your Athletics fees.
The YMCA offers a wide variety of recreational activities to help you stay active and reduce stress. As a bonus, memberships can be used at select YMCA facilities outside of the Simcoe/Muskoka region when you are away during holidays or academic placements.

Lakehead University – Orillia Campus also has a downtown location in the newly renovated Heritage Place, a 14,000 square foot facility that supports a wide range of student services and academic learning environments. Lakehead University is a leader in learning assisted technology. The Orillia Campus classrooms feature a number of high tech smart classrooms, utilizing the latest in state of the art technology to enhance your learning experience along with traditional classroom and community learning environments. You will also have the opportunity to learn in our high tech lab environments featuring the latest in scientific learning technology. The library and resource centre features a permanent collection and access to a complete collection of online reference resources. The Orillia Campus also has a learning area for you to relax with friends between classes or use the internet café to do research or surf the Web. Access to Internet is available via student labs and Internet stations throughout the campus.

Not only does Lakehead have over 600 international students studying on our two campuses, we offer many opportunities for Canadian students wishing to study abroad. Programs with northern circumpolar universities in Finland, Sweden, Norway and Russia, provide opportunities to study abroad at undergraduate levels. Inter-institutional bilateral agreements also facilitate student exchange opportunities as well as faculty exchanges. Some of our bilateral agreements include Sweden, Finland, Germany, Korea, China, Singapore, Australia and France. Special Exchange programs such as ORA, Ontario/Rhone-Alps and the Cortona, Italy program also support academic opportunities for undergraduate students.
