Profile

We boast an intimate university community made up of 10,000 students studying at our three superb campuses, which are located in the historic spa town Cheltenham, and one of the first Roman-English cities, Gloucester (gloss-ter). Majors for Bachelor degrees range from Arts, Media, and Design to Criminology and Law, Biology, Business, the Humanities and Psychology, to Sports and Exercise. Established in 1834, the University of Gloucestershire has more than 175 years of history in teaching and education.

Nestled in the heart of the English countryside with quick and easy transportation links to London, Bristol, Birmingham and Wales, we offer the best of both worlds – access to nature as well as the rest of the world! Locally our students enjoy outdoor pursuits, high-end shopping, extensive cultural heritage, world renowned festivals year-round (such as the Times Literature Festival, the Gold Cup Horse Racing, the Jazz Festival and the Science Festival) and traditional English pubs, cafes, restaurants and bars. At the Uni, the Students’ Union offers a variety of sports clubs and societies to cater to a myriad of interests – or you can set up your own if you have an idea or need not met.

We offer international students a great deal of support via our International Welcome Week, International Student Advisors and the Visa Advice Team. The International Welcome Week offers students the chance to meet new friends, learn about British culture and find accommodation. The Uni organises trips to places such as Bath and Stonehenge, London and Oxford so that students are able to see iconic British heritage. International students often also participate in the organised outings to events such as the theatre, exhibitions and cultural activities.

Areas of Expertise

Undergraduate courses range from Animal Biology to Accounting and Financial Management, Television Production to Teacher Training. We also offer a 2-year Fast Track Law Degree, giving you the chance to achieve a Bachelor of Law (LLB) in just two years, rather than the typical three years. For an employment focus, many of our courses offer the opportunity to participate in a placement year, which gives you a year of paid work experience and makes your degree four years in length. Our range of postgraduate courses, including taught and research programmes, embrace everything from Computing to Creative and Critical Writing. Our MBA offers special flexibility, with the option to start in January rather than September.

On Campus Housing

The University of Gloucestershire employs an International Accommodation Advisor to work with our international students, ensuring that they find suitable housing near the University.

We guarantee University accommodation to first year undergraduate students if they apply on time (deadline is in August for courses starting in September).
