Augustana is a residential campus, and thus requires all students to live on campus for their first year. Exemptions are provided for part-time students, married students, those over 21 years of age at the time of their registration, those living with family in the Camrose area, transfer students, and students with medical needs that cannot be met by Augustana. Residence fees include an all-you-care-to-eat meal plan, internet, and access to Augustana's fitness centre.

Incoming Students

Prior to arriving on campus in the Fall, new students are given access to an online orientation series where they learn about academic honesty, clubs and organizations, international opportunities, academic success, and student services. Once they arrive on campus, students attend their first university course, the First Year Seminar. This course is an intensive discussion-based course with the goal of introducing students to the skills needed to be successful in university. Beyond sessions aimed at helping students transition into campus life, there are also social events such as BBQs, slip 'n' slides, and more, which happen throughout student orientation.

Career Planning

Augustana has a centre that houses resources on careers, educational institutions in Canada and abroad, graduate programs, exchange programs, academic advising, and much more.

Sports

Augustana's teams, the Vikings, compete in numerous competitions ranging from small college conferences to provincial and national competitions. Augustana competes in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) and is also a member of the Canadian College Athletic Association. If you are interested in playing on one of our sports teams, fill out our "Get Recruited" questionnaire.

Activities

Augustana is a small, close-knit campus with lots to do! Students on campus are only a short walk from downtown where they can enjoy the shops, restaurants, and attend special events. On campus, our Jeanne and Peter Lougheed Performing Arts Centre hosts a number of different events and shows that our students can attend. Augustana Campus also hosts a number of events throughout the year including presentations and lectures, performances, workshops, meals, and more.

Clubs

Students at Augustana will find over 25 clubs and organizations related to academic programs, humanitarian causes, athletics, and other interests. These organizations include the Management Society, Augustana Queers and Allies, Afri-Youth Club, and the Augustana Science Club. If you can't find a club that you're interested in, start one!

Information Technology

Students have access to computers in our library, including high-speed internet access. Wireless internet access is also available across campus, including in residence rooms. Technical support for UofA Augustana students is provided by UofA Augustana's Technology and Learning Services (TLS).

Cultural

One of the benefits of attending a small campus is that it is easy to stay connected and get involved. Every year we host concerts, music, and theatre productions on campus. Students at Augustana are from a variety of different ethnic backgrounds and are from all over the world. As a result, we have a wide range of culturally diverse activities on campus.

Special Services

At Augustana, we pride ourselves on offering a wide variety of services to our students. For example, we provide Student Success and Accessibility Resources to students that may require additional support with their education. We also have a Writing Centre and a Math Computing Support Centre, services which are devoted to helping students improve their writing skills and assisting them with math and/or computing science courses. Other services include an Indigenous Student Services Office, international student support, personal counselling, and academic advising. For convenience, many of these services are located in our newly designed Learning Commons.
