Areas of Expertise

NAIT students earn degrees, diplomas and certificates focused on the career fields of business, IT, engineering technologies, environmental management, health sciences, culinary arts and skilled trades. In addition, NAIT's academic upgrading and English as a Second Language programs prepare students for success.

Incoming Students

The First Year Experience team helps students transition to campus life. Through a variety of services and events, they help the first year student feel supported personally and academically, and assist with balancing academic and social life.

Our supportive atmosphere starts even before classes do with the GearUp welcome event, a party that helps students find their way around campus and kicks off the first semester with food, music and fun.

Frequent opportunities to connect with employers are planned throughout the year including career fairs, presentations and special events. A database of job postings gives students access to positions currently available.

Sports

NAIT is a member of the Alberta Colleges Athletics Association (ACAC), a 16 member conference as well as the Canadian Colleges Athletics Association (CCAA). NAIT men's and women's teams have claimed numerous titles in hockey, basketball, volleyball, soccer, badminton, curling, and golf. Sports recreation facilities at Main Campus include an ice arena, Olympic-size pool, regulation size racquetball and squash courts, weight room, fitness room, gymnasium, and outdoor track.

Activities

A full schedule of intramural sports and organized fitness classes, plus drop-in availability, encourages students to take advantage of NAIT's outstanding athletic facilities.

The NAIT Students' Association is very active in hosting a wide variety of social events.

Clubs

NAIT Student Association has more than 70 different clubs including: program-related clubs, sports and fitness clubs, arts clubs, and hobby-based clubs.

Information Technology

Information technology is a way of life at NAIT. Students learn with the latest, and have access to technology both in and out of the classroom. The NAITSA Computer Commons provides 24-hour access to high-speed computers and networks. Libraries provide students at all campuses access to comprehensive information resources in a wide variety of formats. NAIT's online communication system lets all students check class schedules, view grades, post resumes and more.

Cultural

NAIT is dedicated to supporting the Aboriginal student experience. The Encana Aboriginal Student Centre is a community gathering place where Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal students can gather to network, study and share their post-secondary learning experiences. It is a place where culture and tradition are welcome and encouraged. In addition, the International Student Centre is where you can receive support as you transition and settle in Canada. Students can meet with International Student Advisors and Peer Mentors to get guidance and find ways to become involved at NAIT.

Special Services

The Academic Success Centre provides services that support all students in order to maximize their academic potential. These services include free, drop-in tutorial centres, academic and personal counselling services, and a range of supports for students with disabilities.

NAIT campus tours are the perfect opportunity for students to get to know our facilities, advisors, services, students and much more. Group tours are held throughout the year based on Campus Ambassador availability.
