John Abbott College is located in historic Ste. Anne-de-Bellevue on the western tip of the island of Montreal. Established in 1971, John Abbott offers six pre-university and eleven career programs. The mission of John Abbott College is to provide an excellent education for our students within a stimulating learning environment that will enhance their development and potential for success in society.

Areas of Expertise

John Abbott College is the only English-language CEGEP that trains students in aeronautical technologies, youth and adult correctional intervention, dental hygiene, information and library technologies, engineering technologies, and police technology.

The on-campus housing has co-ed floors. John Abbott's residence has apartment-style rooms whereby students are responsible for their own cooking, cleaning, etc.

Off Campus Housing

There is an off-campus housing list of approximately 100 offers. These accommodations could be either apartments for rent or rooms within homes for rent.

Incoming Students

First semester Student Success Animator, peer tutoring, counselling, and academic advising are available.

Career Planning

Counselling workshops and university visits are available throughout a student's stay at the College.

Sports

All students must take three physical education classes in order to obtain a diploma from John Abbott. There are a variety of gym classes that students can choose from.

Activities

Other activities include the Student Union, the school newspaper, and the school radio station. These activities are organized and operated by John Abbott students only.

Clubs

There are approximately 35 socio-cultural or athletic clubs to choose from.

Information Technology

John Abbott has four fully equipped computer labs along with information technology available in the Library. Students register for their courses and obtain their marks at the end of each semester by using an Internet service.

Special Services

Services for students with special needs include reserved parking, lockers and ramps in suitable areas, access to elevators, telephones, and washrooms. The Learning Centre provides services and specialized equipment. There is a First Nations Student Resource Centre that offers social and academic support for Aboriginal students.

International Involvement

John Abbott welcomes students from Germany and China every year to study in our Quebec system. The students from Germany usually return to their country after studying here for one year. The students from China finish their studies, obtain a diploma, and move on to university in Quebec.

Campus Tour

Campus tours are available upon request. They are guided tours of the College by current John Abbott students.

Other

John Abbott also offers student-for-day visits and Open Houses in both the fall and winter semesters.
