DescriptionWhen you complete the Indigenous Classroom Assistant Diploma Program (ICADP) you will be qualified to work, under the professional direction of the classroom teacher and school Principal, as a classroom assistant with Indigenous primary school children. Students explore culturally relevant pedagogical understandings in working with elementary students of all academic levels in numerous subject areas.

The program consists of two parts: two consecutive summer sessions at Nipissing University in North Bay, Ontario, and two in-school placements with a qualified teacher, in a classroom setting, during the school year.

Summer camp programming is offered for children of parents attending the Indigenous Classroom Assistant Diploma Program at no cost.

The Indigenous Classroom Assistant Diploma Program is also offered at Oshki Pimache-o-win: The Wenjack Institute in Thunderbay.
