DescriptionThe Foundation Degree in Contemporary Textile Practice will enable you to explore your creative side, while giving you the knowledge and skills required to be successful in the Textiles industry.

Using a mix of lectures, seminars, technical workshops, demonstration and supervised studio activities, you will develop an understanding and awareness of the nature of textile materials, a working knowledge of elected technical skills in print, stitch and embroidery, and the opportunity to engage with contemporary design practice. The curriculum covers the key areas of drawing, colour theory, studio design techniques, understanding and experimentation with different types of materials and the use of digital media. The course has a commercial focus and students will gain an understanding of the Textiles industry and business practice. To enable this there is a significant work based learning element to the programme, which gives students the opportunity to use their acquired skills, gain experience and enhance their employability.
