DescriptionWhy do people behave the way they do? What are the best ways to change behaviour? What do we mean by personality? How do we learn? To what degree do our genetic makeup and environment influence our development? Understanding the mechanisms that underlie the behaviour of people and animals is the basic goal of psychology.

When you study Psychology at Carleton University, you’ll be exploring all the major areas of the field, including social psychology, personality, cognition, development, and biological foundations of behaviour. Applied work experience is available to qualified students in their third year. Organizational Psychology looks at individuals and groups in workplace settings, examining issues such as occupational health and employee morale, with the ultimate goal of enhancing organizational effectiveness and individual well-being.
