DescriptionYou’ll develop both your creative and critical writing skills in a degree that blends English language and creative writing. You'll be mentored by award-winning writers such as Tyler Keevil, winner of the People’s Choice 2014 Wales Book of the Year Award. Many of our students have their writing published in journals such as the New Writing series, our annual undergraduate anthology and Show Don't Tell, our recently launched, student-led creative writing magazine. Well-known contemporary poetry magazine Iota is edited within the department.

As well as analysing the historical origins of language, the course introduces the language of various online forums, discussing how language constructs social issues, such as sexism, racism, body image and immigration. You'll analyse language in forums by participating in lively debates, becoming an informed and eloquent graduate.
