DescriptionThe objective of the Master of Science online degree program in Engineering Science with a specialization in Materials Science and Engineering is to provide an in-depth study of Materials Science and Engineering topics through advanced coursework and an introduction to research.

Students who elect this option follow the guidelines for the Master of Science Degree (listed below) but they replace the thesis/research credits with six hours of coursework and they are allowed to take up to 9 credits of technical electives from MSE 510-518 instead of only up to six. After completing their coursework, students must complete a report (typically 15-20 double spaced pages plus figures) on a topic of their choice approved by their committee and make an oral presentation to the selected committee members on their program of study.
