Description | The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology provides a bridge between the basic sciences and medicine. Investigating the molecular mechanisms of disease is an important priority of the department. Research is carried out in areas such as cardiovascular disease, immunopathobiology, neuropathology, and neoplasia. The department offers a Pathobiology specialist program, which gives students a broad understanding of contemporary medical research and basic scientific insights that have revolutionized our understanding of disease in recent years.
