| The Diploma of Applied Psychology and Counselling is a comprehensive, 1-year vocational training program for entry-level careers in the mental health field. The program consists of 16 courses (960 instructional hours). Each 3 week, (60 hour) course teaches major counselling theories and skill development specific to the course topic. Courses are offered on-campus (day or evening classes), and through distance learning. Faculty members hold Masters, equivilent or Ph.D. degrees and bring years of professional experience to the classroom. Instruction is student-centered (geared to a variety of learning styles), and experiential. |

Required: Grade 12 and Mature Student Status (19 years of age and in the work force for at least one year) and completion of the Counselling Aptitude Assessment (CAA). Students with preexisting medical, psychiatric or substance related conditions that may interfere with their ability to complete the training program require a letter of recommendation from an attending specialist. Admissions interview with an Admission Advisor in-person or by phone, signed agreement with confidentiality and participation policies and proof of funding are also required. |
