Description:

The program is designed for students looking to gain the skills and experience required for leadership careers within key international health organizations, government agencies, NGOs and the private sector. It is developed by the Faculties of Health Sciences, Social Sciences and the DeGroote School of Business in partnership with Maastricht University, the Netherlands, and partner universities in Thailand and India.

    Applicants are required to have an Honours Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with at least a B+ from an accredited university (equivalent to a McMaster 9 GPA out of 12) in the final full year in all courses in the discipline, or relating to the discipline, in which they plan to do graduate work. Please note while a B+ is the minimum average, due to the pool of applicants, the average GPA for those applicants admitted to the program may be higher than B+.

    Test Scores:
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Computer Based) [min. 237] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 580] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 92] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5]
    Application Notes : Applicants whose native language is not English will be required to submit an official copy of their TOEFL score, or other evidence of competency in English is required. A minimum TOEFL (iBT) score of 92 (580 on the paper-based TOEFL test or 237 on the computer-based TOEFL test) is needed for the Faculty of Health Sciences. Students taking the IELTS are required to achieve a minimum score of 6.5 with a minimum score of 5.5 in each category. Equivalent scores on other recognized tests may also be considered. Each of these scores are only valid for 2 years. Students who have completed an Academic ESL program through Canadian academic institutions may petition to have this considered in lieu of TOEFL. Applicants may be exempted from this requirement if they have completed a university degree at which English is the language of instruction.

    Applicants are required to submit a stated interest in one or more of the following concentrations available (Globalization and Development, Global Health Management, or Global Diseases), a personal statement, and two confidential letters of recommendation from referees most familiar with their academic work.
