If you have been asked to meet our English Language Proficiency requirement, you must demonstrate English language proficiency by achieving the minimum requirements as specified by McMaster. Acceptable tests of English Language Proficiency and their respective minimum score requirements are as follows: IELTS - 6.5 overall with a minimum of 5.0 on each of the four components (Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening); CAE - 176 overall with minimum score of 154 in each component; PTE - 60 overall with minimum score of 60 in Writing and Speaking; CAEL - 70 overall; MELAB - 85 overall (minimum 80 in each of the three required components, minimum 3 in optional speaking component (Required)); TOEFL IBT - 86 overall with a minimum score of 20 on each of the four components (Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening).
