The two-year diploma program prepares you for a rewarding career contributing to community safety by helping to enforce laws, process, and reintegrate individuals who are in conflict with the law.
This program is well-suited for mature self-starters who value teamwork, problem-solving, healthy lifestyles, and helping others. A key part of this program is to prepare you with the skills you need to build effective working relationships with the diverse range of individuals that you encounter in the criminal justice field – in both community and institutional settings. Throughout the program you practise active listening, communication (oral and written), as well as critical thinking and observation skills. You must also be motivated to learn the knowledge and skills needed to work in the field of criminal justice in Canada. To work in this field, you must have a clear criminal record, good physical endurance, and be prepared to work shift work, as the majority of employment opportunities are with agencies that are 24/7 operations. |

Additional Admission Requirements: | A current, official Criminal Record check and Vulnerable Sector check are required to complete work placements in this program. A conviction on your criminal record may impact your ability to complete program requirements. Inability to obtain a work placement will impact the student's ability to complete program requirements and proceed through to graduation. Information on this process will be provided at the beginning of your program.
Human Services programs have additional requirements including immunizations and completion of first aid/CPR. You must submit documentation that you have completed these requirements at the beginning of your program. |
