Description:

The Department of Psychology’s mission is to encourage students to become independent thinkers who read critically, who can make sensitive observations and who can generate original ideas, making use of current theoretical constructs and relevant empirical data. The program prepares students for entry into professional life or for graduate studies in diverse programs of study, including clinical, neuroscience, developmental, social and cultural psychology. Psychology majors work in a variety of fields, where knowledge of human motivation, critical thinking skills, and sensitivity are valued. To become a practicing psychologist, students must pursue a degree at the Masters or Doctorate level.

Students with a grade point average of 3.7 or above in psychology courses during their Junior and Senior years may apply for departmental honors. The distinction requires students to produce an original scholarly product of exceptional quality. Students who wish to apply for departmental honors should make an appointment with the department chair for additional information.

Prerequisites:

Application Notes : The American University of Paris reviews completed applications in “rounds” throughout the year. You’re encouraged to apply early as priority for admission and scholarship is given in earlier rounds. The first deadline for fall admission is November 15th. The first deadline for spring admission is October 1st.
