Description:

As well as providing entertainment, games offer creative ways for people to engage with content. The need for engaging content and the evolution of the internet, multimedia and mobile devices, have led to significant growth in the games industry. With new and exciting game applications in public services, education, business and healthcare, there is growing demand for professionals who can apply games technology concepts across a range of devices and industries.

On this course, you will learn how to apply game development methodologies and techniques using dedicated games hardware and software development technologies. You will develop strong programming skills using C++ and learn about Artificial Intelligence, 3D environments and effective software design for the entertainment industry. This is while gaining an understanding of the history and theories around play, games and user engagement. As PlayStation®First partners, you will gain direct experience of PS4 and Vita development.

Students who do a work placement are more likely to graduate with a better degree and get higher quality work on graduation. So as well as helping hone your professional skills, industry knowledge and network, a placement will make you highly employable on graduation. We have good relationships with independent developers in and around Bristol, who take on students, with opportunities ranging from specific games to software development placements. Past students have worked in areas including mobile games and applications.
