Careers:Software Engineer

Description:

The widespread growth of the UK's computing industry has led to significant demand for skilled computer professionals. Mobile technology is now becoming increasingly pervasive across a wide range of industries and demand for specialist skills in this field continues to rise.

This course has been developed alongside regional mobile technology employers to address the skills gap in mobile computing. It takes the Department's strengths in computer science, games development and creative technology and focuses these on mobile technologies. You will develop a solid understanding of mobile device technology, mobile application development, multimedia development and product design. As you progress, you can specialise in advanced technologies such as user-interfaces, graphics, multimedia, artificial intelligence, social media or networking. As a result, you will be equipped to create mobile technologies of the future, which take into account transferable, sound, software development practices.

Students who do a work placement are more likely to graduate with a better degree and get higher quality work on graduation. So as well as helping hone your professional skills, industry knowledge and network, a placement will make you highly employable on graduation. Thanks to our employer relationships, there are a number of mobile software-specific placements available each year, alongside other software development opportunities of interest. The UWE Bristol Careers Service will show you how to prepare your CV correctly, advise you how to write letters of application and help you learn successful interview techniques.
