Description:

This course is an integrated four-year undergraduate Masters course. It has been designed to enable you to gain a balanced understanding of Human and Physical Geographies and Geographical Information Systems (GIS). The course aims to extend your comprehension of key geographical concepts, provide you with an in-depth understanding of specialised areas of geography and develop the ability to adapt and apply geographical thinking and methodologies to the solution of real-world issues. You will also develop a range of transferable skills that will prepare you for professional employment upon graduation. In addition, you will gain a critical awareness of advances at the forefront of geographical research to prepare you effectively for doctoral studies in the geographical sciences. The choice between the MGeog (Hons) and the BSc (Hons) Geography is made at the end of your second year, if you initially apply for the MGeog degree. Progression to the MGeog programme is possible up until the end of your second year and is subject to your general academic performance at the end of Year 2. The third year pathway Contemporary Urbanism and Planning is accredited by the Institute of Place Management.
