Description:

The course aims to equip you to understand and engage with the ideas and concerns that shape our lives. During your studies, you will be able to explore the full richness of philosophy, both past and present. We offer courses that span the range of philosophical questions and traditions ensuring that you achieve a balanced understanding of the subject. Students develop a number of key skills that enables them to tackle philosophical questions with vision, imagination, and a critical eye. If you want to develop a rich set of life-enhancing skills and the power to influence others and initiate change, then philosophy is for you. The philosophy course delivered at the Manchester campus focuses on central philosophical themes, in, for example, aesthetics, ethics and metaphysics. There are also two specialist routes on Environment, Technology and Philosophy, and on Ethics, Religion and Philosophy. If you choose the Combined Honours route of philosophy and politics or international politics you will also be able to study a varied account of the nature of politics in the 21st Century. Philosophy may also be combined with English, psychology, or sociology.

    Canadian High School diploma holders (Grade 12 graduates) are usually accepted, subject to meeting the minimum entry requirements of the University.
