Program Information

School:University of Toronto - St. George
Faculty:Arts and Science
Degree:Bachelor; Honours
Field of Study:American/United States Studies/Civilization
Description:The American Studies program provides students with a broad, yet deep, education about the United States. Students are required to take an interdisciplinary core course that ranges widely both with respect to the themes covered and disciplinary perspectives applied.

Most students combine studies in this area with another focus such as history, cinema studies, geography, political science, or English. The program emphasizes skills in research, writing, and critical thinking and thus provides an excellent foundation for further work in any of these fields, as well as applied areas such as law, public policy, communications and media, and others.
