Description:

The Honours Environmental Sciences is a flexible program providing a solid foundation in environmental sciences while achieving interdisciplinarity, by including select courses in ecology, ecology of inland waters, and plant biodiversity. At Level II, students have a choice of courses including earth history, soils, earth surface processes, environmental geochemistry, surface climate processes and surface water hydrology. At Level II and IV, students may select courses including surface climate processes and environmental interaction, physical hydrogeology, watershed ecosystem biogeochemistry, advanced physical climatology, contaminants geochemistry, freshwater processes, isotope and microbial geochemistry, hydrologic modeling and contaminant hydrogeology. The program also provides a foundation in environmental assessment and policy. Please refer to the program Progress Chart for further details:

Applicants are required to have at least six Grade 12 U/M level courses, including: ENG4U, one of: MHF4U, MCV4U, one of: SBI4U, SCH4U, and one of: MHF4U, MCV4U, SBI4U, SCH4U, SPH4U.
Test Scores:
  • International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5] or DuoLingo [min. 115] or Cambridge English for Speakers of Other Languages: Certificate in Advanced English [min. 190] or Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 70] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 86]
Application Notes : Students who have been asked to meet McMaster’s English Language Proficiency requirement must demonstrate English language proficiency by achieving the minimum requirements as specified by McMaster: IELTS: 6.5, CAE: 190, PTE: 60, CAEL: 70, TOEFL (iBT): 86, DUO: 115.
