Test Scores:

Test scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 550 (paper-based) or 213 (computer-based), or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum overall band score of 6.5 are required. Test scores must be less than 3 years old and received directly from the testing agency. You must indicate McGill University's institution code: 0935.

Admission requirements include, normally, an MA degree in history and a BA degree in history with a minimum CGPA of 3.3. Applicants for a PhD in Ancient History must have reading proficiency in Greek and Latin plus one modern European language (in addition to their first language). Applicants for other areas of history, e.g., Russian, should also have a reading knowledge of languages needed for research purposes.
