Description:

The Education Specialist (EdS) degree provides post-master’s study and is a leadership program preparing individuals to assume a professional role in education administration and supervision. It is designed to enhance the academic skill and knowledge base of educational leaders, preparing them to meet the increasingly complex challenges of the 21st century. Graduates will be quailfied to work in a variety of educational settings, including schools, community colleges, and universities.

Individuals interested in obtaining an Education Specialist degree will complete 21 credit hours of core course work common to all areas and 9 credit hours in one of the specialty areas listed below.

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
    A master’s degree in education from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA average of 3.30 from graduate level work. Domestic College of Education Graduate Application (268kB) to include the non-refundable Application Fee and the following:‌ Official copies of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts from any college or university where college credit was earned, Two letters of recommendation from professional educators or supervisors familiar with candidate's career achievements AND one letter of recommendation from a faculty member of the candidate's graduate level work. A statement of personal goals, career aspirations, and educational philosophy- Statement of Purpose Form (608kB)‌. A current résumé. A current professional vita. A written commitment to complete the program in a maximum of three academic years from the date of admission to the first semester.
