Description:

Building on the essential research and critical thinking skills learned at the master's level, our PhD graduates form the next generation of communication scholars as well as holding senior positions in government and cultural agencies. Doctoral students have access to faculty who are leading experts in their field with specialties including cultural policy, new social media, environmental communication, global media industries, diversity in the media and promotional culture, among other subjects.

The normal requirement for admission into the doctoral program is a master's degree (or the equivalent) in communication or a cognate field such as journalism studies, with an overall average of B+ or better.

Applicants who have deficiencies in certain areas may be admitted to the Ph.D. Program, but will normally be required to complete additional course work.
