Description:

This new program is both cutting edge and respectful of the traditional scholarly strengths of gender studies and women's studies. It encourages interdisciplinary approaches and supports new ways of looking at issues of sex and gender. The dynamic and diverse nature of our program suits the social, cultural and educational needs of local/global societies that are becoming increasingly fragmented and complex. Our areas of focus include: activism, social justice and political economy; representation, art, popular culture, cultural production and literatures; (post)colonial, migratory and diasporic communities; and feminist and gender theories including critical race/anti-racist theory, queer theory and feminist pedagogies.

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 88] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 600]
Application Notes : For international students, if required, a TOEFL total score of at least 600 (paperbased) or TOEFL iBT minimum scores of: writing (24/30); speaking (22/30); reading (22/30); listening (20/30), for a total of 88/120. Applicants must have the minimum score in each test as well as the minimum overall score.

Applicants are required to have a four-year undergraduate degree (BAHon) from a recognized university in gender studies or cognate fields (women's studies, feminist studies, sexuality studies) or in another field with evidence of a prior focus on gender, and a minimum of B+ in the last two years of university study.
