    Applicants are required to have: a four-year honours Bachelor's degree, or equivalent; and a minimum GPA of 3.0 / 4.33 (B), or equivalent, in the final half of the program. Although previous journalism experience is not a prerequisite for admission, students who have previously done journalistic work are strongly encouraged to submit clippings or other examples for assessment. Students who already have a Bachelor's degree in Journalism are advised to contact the program office prior to applying to the MJ program (mj@ryerson.ca or 416-979-5000 x2783).

    • International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 7.5] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 105]
    Application Notes : If you have not completed two or more years, full-time, at a Canadian university or a university at which English was the primary language of instruction, or have not completed a graduate degree at a university where English was the primary language of instruction, you will be required to provide certification of English language proficiency through one of the accepted examinations listed below. Scores are valid for two years from the test date. It is important to understand that meeting the minimum English proficiency requirements does not guarantee admission. Programs may set additional requirements to these minimum standards. For exemption from this requirement, applicants are required to provide an official statement from their institutions Registrar's office confirming the use of English as the Medium of Instruction for the duration of their study.
