Description:

Vous effectuerez des recherches sur l’éducation physique, le sport, le conditionnement physique, la santé et le bien-être dans des contextes canadiens et étrangers. Vous découvrirez la science du sport, l’exercice physique et ses liens avec la santé humaine. Vous enrichirez vos connaissances et compétences pratiques en promotion de la santé communautaire, prévention des maladies chroniques et réadaptation. Vous comprendrez et explorerez les limites du mouvement humain au cours de la vie. Le programme met l’accent sur la biomécanique, la physiologie de l’exercice, le comportement psychomoteur et les contributions psychosociales au mouvement humain. Il prépare à des carrières en recherche, en enseignement et dans le secteur. Vous entrerez dans le domaine des soins de santé préventifs.

Application Notes : For admission to a degree program, a student must meet one of the language requirements listed below in addition to the academic requirements: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) (minimum score: 230 computer-based, 570 paper-based, 88 Internet-based); International English Language Testing System (IELTS - Academic)(minimum score: 6.5); Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) (minimum score: 80); Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Assessment Test (minimum score: 70, with 60 in writing proficiency); Cambridge English Proficiency (minimum result: C); Pearson Test of Academic English (PTE) (minimum score: 60); Three years of full time senior-level studies in an English-language secondary school or post-secondary institution (official documents required) (evaluated on an individual basis; at the Admissions Committee's discretion); or Laurentian EAP Level 3 exam with a score of 70% or higher.

To be admitted, students should normally hold an appropriate Bachelor's degree at the honours level, or its equivalent, with at least a B+ or 75% standing in the last three years of a four year degree program. Students entering the MHK Program will normally hold a 4-year degree in a Human Kinetics Field (e.g., Physical and Health Education; Kinesiology; Sports Psychology) or equivalent. Candidates who have graduated from a three year degree program in a related discipline may be admitted to a qualifying year. Candidates with an honours degree in a related field such as Life Sciences, Sports Administration, Nursing Science, Rehabilitation Therapy, Sociology, Psychology, Physiology, Mechanical Engineering, Biology and Biochemistry to name a few, may be admitted to the MHK program. However, such candidates may be required to enroll in undergraduate courses in the School of Human Kinetics to round out their academic thesis preparation if deemed necessary by the admissions committee (students will be informed of this decision before being admitted to the program).
