| The Department of Computer Science offers a graduate program leading to the degrees of Master of Science (M.Sc.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science. The Department also participates in the Co-operative Education program at the graduate level. Research areas include strong emphases in software engineering, software systems, human computer interaction (HCI), software requirements engineering, graphics, combinatorial algorithms, graph theory, algorithm design and complexity, music technology, numerical analysis, parallel and distributed computing and digital systems design.
Students of this program has the option to complete the co-operative education program. Co-op offers discipline-related work experience alternating with academic terms.The final result is an extremely valuable degree with intellectual and theoretical depth plus practical experience. The goal is to link relevant paid work experience with the thesis research topic. This may be facilitated by the industrial connections of a supervisor. Recent graduate student co-op employers have included: IBM Labs, Federal Government research labs, Sierra Systems Groups, Microsoft, Business Objects, BC Hydro, Genologics and Macdonald Dettwiler, and more!

Applicants must have a major or honours undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or its equivalent, or a major or honours degree in Mathematics with an emphasis on Computer Science. A minimum standing of B+ is required. |
