Kinesiology and Exercise Science
|Description:||This program has a broad-based commitment to the advancement of knowledge, the improvement of society, and service to all of our stakeholders in the varied communities that we serve. We draw upon our experience in human physical activity and engage in interdisciplinary problem solving with like-minded scholars from the disciplines of sociology, history and the behavioral, health and pure sciences.
The Masters of Fitness Science (MFSc) degree (non-thesis) involves coursework and an extensive practical experience to prepare students for a variety of professional careers including health promotion, sport and occupational fitness applications and exercise management for persons with chronic diseases or disabilities. The practicum involves laboratory and field work and authoring a fitness-based article for a professional publication. In completing this degree students satisfy the requirements for the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology's Certified Exercise Physiologist.
