Description:

Mechanical Engineering is an engineering discipline that involves the application of principles of physics for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. A M.A.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering provides additional breadth and depth of knowledge, positioning graduates for technical leadership and specialization in industry, or to continue with a Ph.D. degree. M.A.Sc. candidates develop their skills in analysis, creative problem solving, critical thinking, experimental methods and/or analytical models, resourcefulness, responsibility and the ability to present their work to a variety of audiences. All M.A.Sc. students are supervised by a faculty member from the department. The research areas of the faculty members include: biomechanics; manufacturing; mechanics and design; and thermofluids.

Applicants from Canadian institutions must hold an Honours bachelor's degree, in a related discipline, with an average equivalent to B- in the final year of study; this average is to be comprised of courses that relate to mechanical engineering (such as mathematics, engineering, and science). Courses not related to mechanical engineering (generally within humanities and social sciences) will be discounted from your weighted average at the discretion of the admissions officer; however, you can expect English courses to be included in your average.
