Electrocardiogram and Phlebotomy Technician

Robetech Institute, Inc. (Closed)

Degree:Diploma
Field of Study:Electrocardiograph Technology/Technician
Phlebotomy/Phlebotomist

Description:

Electrocardiogram (ECG) testing is a non-invasive procedure that gives the physician a clearer view of the heart in order to detect abnormalities or irregularities within the chambers, arteries, and ventricles. ECG technicians may be the first to spot problems of the heart that might prove to be fatal if not detected through other methods. The main objective of a phlebotomist is to draw blood and obtain specimens promptly, efficiently, and safely from patients and clients. Conducting routine and diagnostic testing can be the most accurate way to assess, track, and repair illnesses and diseases.

The ECG/Phlebotomy Technician program teaches the student techniques of performing and practicing electrocardiograms on various ECG machines including computerized and multi-channel. Venipuncture techniques are taught using vacutainer tubes, butterfly needles and syringe methods. Specimen handling, centrifuging, laboratory safety, and computerized patient documentation are also taught through out the course. Robetech students have the advantage of working within our clinical laboratories and fully simulated practical rooms, which offer a professional learning environment.
