Description:

Completing the Live-in Caregiver program allows students to work in Canada as a professional caregiver. Caregivers are individuals who are qualified to work without supervision in a private household providing care for children, elderly persons, or people who have disabilities. The live-in caregiver is required to live in the employer's home during their contracted term of employment. Similar to the personal support worker, live-in caregivers will obtain the education necessary to work with seniors, children, and persons with disabilities assisting them on a daily basis with routine activities specified by the employer.

Throughout the program, students will focus on all areas of caring for various clients and/or patients. Topics such as abuse and safety, cognitive impairment, mental health issues, personal hygiene, meal preparation, household management, adaptive equipment, and palliative training will be highlighted during the course. Robetech students have the advantage of working within our fully equipped simulated hospital room and practical nursery room, as well as receive training in kitchen and laundry duties to assist in household maintenance.
