Description:The program in Political Science develops students’ knowledge of Canadian government, international relations, and political systems and theories, and their understanding of complex political issues.

Topics include the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and its impacts on society; Indigenous rights, decolonization and globalization; provincial governments and the politics of natural resource development; Franco-Ontarian minority politics; immigration policies and the politics of integration; terrorism, ethnic conflict and civil war; international security and conflict resolution; and the influence of popular culture on politics.

Students may choose to participate in an exchange program with one of five universities in Europe. This program is offered in both English and French.

Ontario secondary school students who apply for admission to first year at Laurentian University must present an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), as well as at least six grade 12 4U/4M courses (as specified in each program listing) with the minimum grade requirements.
