Description:Are you interested in how children acquire language, how the skills of second-language speakers develop, how various language disorders can be diagnosed and treated, or how social or cultural environments interact with language? In this major, you’ll study theories and methodologies relevant to learning and teaching English as a subsequent language.

The Applied Linguistics/Teaching English as a Subsequent Language Co-op program combines academic and two volunteer work placements in language-rich environments over a four-year period. Students spend two years in an academic setting prior to taking the first work placement.
