Description:The Faculty of Education at Lakehead University offers a Master of Education program designed to meet your professional and academic goals and interests. The Master of Education program has recently been modified to make it more flexible and responsive to the needs of education professionals while maintaining the program's high standards. We have broadened the scope of our program and have added an innovative new route for degree completion, so that students may elect to complete a Thesis or a Portfolio. Students may also complete the program through the Course route. Students may choose a specialization in Gerontology or Women's Studies.

The M.Ed. program accommodates a wide range of interests and offers flexibility, including full-time and flex-time studies. Additionally, class sizes are small, permitting opportunities for extensive interaction with classmates, instructors, and other faculty members. Our Faculty members have expertise in a wide variety of areas, including: curriculum development, implementation, evaluation, and assessment; language arts, science education, First Nations education, and mathematics education; early reading development, computers in the classroom, and educational psychology; educational foundations and law, educational policy, and philosophy of education; educational leadership, comparative education, and classroom management; and teacher education, adult education, gender and equity issues.
